The Government of India has taken various initiatives time to time to improve the situation of SCs & STs. Also the constitution provides a three pronged strategy such as (i) Protective arrangements, Affirmative actions and development plans to bridge the socio-economics gap between the SCs & STs and other communities. National commissions are made for effective implementation of safeguards built into the constitution under Articles 338 & 338A.
